Number System Usage

General Rules

Native Korean is commonly used for "counting" while Sino-Korean is used for "numbers".

The higher the number the more likely Sino-Korean is to be used until Native numbers stop entirely at 99.

When telling the time, Native Korean is used for the hours and Sino-Korean is used for the minutes.

When talking about someone's age, the older the person is the more likely Sino-Korean is to be used. Sino-Korean starts to become common at around 30 years old, and is used near exclusively at around 50 years old.
